Now 16 several years later on, daily life is providing the Riggins loved ones a different large reward.
It was 2006 when the “Intense Makeover” crew tore down the Riggins’ aged, troubled dwelling in Raleigh’s historic Mordecai Village and transformed it into a 2,300 square foot, house loan-absolutely free masterpiece.
Now in 2022, the Riggins family is however living in it and still loving it.
“It showed God’s claims coming legitimate,” family members matriarch Linda Riggins said.
After 16 yrs, Linda lovingly calls the renovated house “lived in.”
“I call this my mommy wall,” Linda reported pointing to a wall adorned with photos of her relatives and positioned so she can see it even though she functions in her kitchen.
A content collage of friends, household, Linda, her spouse and their three kids through the several years. So quite a few pictures, spilling across the place on the fridge, she now phone calls the “Close friend Fridge.”

Now, Linda Riggins is a published creator.
“Phrases: Beholding Black Women of all ages, that is the title of my to start with publication,” Linda claimed proudly displaying off the manuscript. “It is a selection of poetry that celebrates the Black woman that I am and that I am starting to be and pretty a little bit the Black lady I was.”
The deal with, built by Linda’s brother, demonstrates Linda on the lookout in the mirror, “and I’m viewing all the faces of these women of all ages–my mom, my grandmothers and my sisters–who formed me.”

“This is a snippet of my lifetime story of resilience, of celebration, of persistence, of survival, of like, of pleasure, of hope. These are huge things,” Linda stated.
