An elderly pair, whose uninsured residence was ruined in a gas explosion, say they are “overwhelmed” just after acquiring aid from their regional community.

Hundreds of people have stepped forward to give help to Josie Cornish, 75, and her husband Alan, 73, following their dwelling and belongings were turned into rubble.

Darren, a paramedic, claimed he feared there was a gasoline leak so went to look into with his mum, who instinctively turned on the cooker to test and display it was doing the job appropriately.
