A builder, along with an accomplice, allegedly hatched a conspiracy to mislead investigators by registering a false grievance of extortion to obtain law enforcement safety and get rid of collectors, officers stated on Friday.

Raids were carried out, pursuing which the 40-year-old builder, identified as Gaurav Jain, was arrested on Friday. He cooked up a story and filed a phony complaint at Preet Vihar police station in a bid to get rid of his collectors, a law enforcement officer stated.
According to the law enforcement, Mr. Jain is a resident of Preet Vihar in east Delhi. He and his father operate a construction company in the title of Sidhshrey Developers Pvt. He did his graduation in B.Sc.(Hons) and also retains an MBA diploma. Both he and his father are directors in the said company.
Mr. Jain approached the police with his grievance on December 29 final yr, alleging that he had been given a letter as a result of courier with an extortion demand from customers of ₹25 lakh and was threatened with life if the income was not paid, the police claimed.
