Homebuilder, family members killed in South Lyon crash

A prominent home builder and his family members died Saturday afternoon when their small plane crashed into a property in Lyon Township just a 50 percent mile shorter of its desired destination, location the house on fire.

David Compo, 60, his wife, Michele, 55, and their son 18-year-outdated Dawson were being headed to Oakland/Southwest Airport when their plane crashed, in accordance to the Home Builders Association of Southeastern Michigan. 

Neighbors explained they assisted the inhabitants escape from a home in the 57000 block of Dakota, which experienced substantial destruction from the crash. The plane was protruding from the home and included with a tarp Saturday evening. 

A neighboring household was also ruined.

The home builders association claimed David Compo was an experienced pilot and had flown to Canton, Ga, Tuesday. The Compos were returning residence to Northville when they crashed. 

Dawson Compo, a 2020 Catholic Central graduate and Northville resident, died Jan. 2, 2021, with his parents in a plane crash near the Oakland Southwest Airport in New Hudson.

David Compo’s term as president of the dwelling builders association ended Friday. He was the president and co-founder of Compo Builders Inc., primarily based in Novi, in accordance to the firm’s website.

Authorities say several agencies responded to the scene and asked people to prevent the spot.
