Daniel Burgess, left, is welcomed home by Military Makeover host Art Edmonds, center, as wife Ganette Burgess looks on, Saturday, Dec. 12, 2020, in Cape Coral.

The show will air during a series of episodes Feb. 12 to March 26.

Burgess, his wife Genette, and their daughters Gracie and Kaylee run the charity One Leg Quilting. The couple make quilts and donates them to veterans and veterans groups.

Daniel Burgess lost his right leg during an IED explosion in Afghanistan. The blast also damaged his other leg, burned his skin, collapsed his lungs and gave him a traumatic brain injury.

While he has an artificial limb, he spends about half his time in a wheelchair because of the pain, Genette told the News-Press.

They had told the show they need a special stove that’s wheelchair-accessible, for example, kitchen counters that the wheelchair can easily roll under; and a high-end air conditioning system to better remove dust.
