ST. PETERSBURG — A delivery driver was killed Sunday when a load of construction materials struck him at a Home Depot store, police said.

The man was delivering a load of material in the back of the store at 2300 22nd Ave. N about 7:30 p.m. when he was struck, according to St. Petersburg police. The man was not an employee of the store, police said.

An investigation was underway but police said the incident appears to be an accident. Police have not released the man’s name because investigators were working to notify his family.
