Timeless enchantment. That is what designer Laura Neuman of PepperJack Interiors was likely for in the transform of a couple’s Granite Bay home constructed in the 1990s. “We desired to keep a standard element in the course of the residence, but make it lighter and brighter and fresher,” suggests Neuman.
Foundational to the task was changing the unique travertine flooring and brightening up the kitchen and living areas with a fresh coat of paint. In the family room, Neuman retained the pretty wood-beam ceilings and inside window shutters but entirely redesigned the hearth, which previously had a French chateau-like fake end, to offer the home a uncomplicated but stylish focal level. “I really like that the new look has a present-day Napa sense to it,” suggests Neuman.
Art was the commencing stage for the kitchen redesign. “I’m not someone who likes to participate in with funky tile or a motif,” explains Neuman. “I would alternatively convey art into a kitchen since it’s personal and it’s changeable.” She held the cabinetry “very common,” opting for a slender-banded model, at times referred to as a micro Shaker, in white oak. The layout of the tile backsplash can take its cue from generations-previous brick patterns—a signature move that lends the place a refined feeling of heritage.
Modest but significant details—the crystal knob on the mesh wine cellar door, the linen drapes with a wonderfully customized primary edge—are central to how Neuman conceives a space. “I typically really feel that it is great to style from the inside out, contemplating about all the materials and finishes initial,” she clarifies. “I just cannot picture coming up with a area with no pondering about these particulars. It all goes with each other for me.”
