Sonny Leonard, an engine builder, from Madison Heights has passed away at 77.
According to Sonny’s World Class Racing Engines on Facebook, he died on Sunday morning.
Leonard has been a staple in winning world championships in the International Hot Rod and National Truck Pulling Associations.

According to his obituary, he also served in the U.S. Army.
The Facebook page says he will be greatly missed and they plan to keep his legacy going and will remain open for business.
There will be a celebration of life on Thursday at 1 p.m. at Thomas Road Baptist Church in Lynchburg.
